Time has always been a major theme in the production of Britta Dietsche, who focuses her research especially on the interactions between two different temporalities.
The first can be defined as mechanical time, is characterized by a linear and normal progression and can be measured by a clock.
Human actions are coordinated and measured by this temporality.
The second is subjective time, which arises from the very personal perception of each person and which cannot be measured in an overall relationship.
Its communication is related mostly to memories, narratives and artistic practices such as poetry and, of course, visual arts. In Dietsche’s work, this second temporality is generally communicated through symbols, such as the butterfly, whose beauty and lightness are ephemeral, but also very intense, highlighting for the viewer the importance of seizing the ungraspable instant.
