Strategic Seduction

Advertisers and professionals of the entertainment industry, among others, know how important it is to develop strategies to seduce an audience, which is solicited by a constant flow of competing stimuli. In artistic production, seduction techniques have been cultivated for centuries in various extremely refined ways, from the use of harmonious forms and colours, to the depiction of scenes connecting with the inner feelings and memories of the viewer. The photocollage depicts a romantic encounter between a woman, whose chest is the only visible part behind two ice cream cones, and a second character, whose space is occupied by the viewer.

Constructed to incorporate the viewer in the scene, through a “tromp l’oeil” effect, the image is thus a symbolic representation of the intimate play of seduction, which is naturally implied in every process of artistic production and contemplation.
